A field guide from TI YA RA

Ubud, Slowly

Tea, temples, textiles, and time to linger.

The Ubud we appreciate comes into focus through its tea tables, makers, sacred places and landscape. This is where we live, prepare tea and make a place for templewear. Our guide brings personal recommendations together with discoveries that offer a closer look at the town and its surroundings.

A closer look at Ubud.

Tea, and tables worth staying at

Japanese tea and matcha at CHONTEA & Co., matcha among the moss, or a pot at Xiù in its bamboo setting. Alchemy and Dapur Usada give plant-based cooking different expressions; Pyramids Café by Malaika earns its place for delicious food and its raw cakes.

Clothing, art and gifts with a maker

Threads of Life connects cloth to its maker and island. AYA Sacred Wear brings botanical colour to clothing; Brahmaki’s Monkey Forest shop carries pieces made beyond Bali. Our own TI YA RA TEMPLE belongs here for templewear, with Toko Elami and Gaya offering thoughtful gifts.

Temples and ceremonial life

Lotus ponds at Saraswati, sacred springs at Tirta Empul, rock-cut shrines at Gunung Kawi. Priests, offerings and ceremony give these places their living context. The full guide offers ways to learn about that life with informed guidance and a proper welcome.

The ridge and the sacred forest

Campuhan opens a view across green slopes. Close to our Temple, Ubud Monkey Forest belongs to Padangtegal’s religious life as well as its landscape. Bali Reptile Park, in Singapadu, is another of Tiyana’s recommendations for time with animals.

Water, sound and places to linger

Spring-fed river pools at Bambu Indah; the gym, sauna, spa and community at The Bali Eden at Gdas Bali; sound at Pyramids of Chi. Beyond them are terraces and forest settings, from Amandari’s restaurant to Capella’s camp among the trees. There are reasons here to stay for an afternoon, or a whole weekend.
